LES FOLIES SIFFAIT - 44850 LE CELLIER

Propriété du Département de Loire-Atlantique, cette oeuvre originale de Maximilien Siffait, construite entre 1816 et 1830, est un site patrimonial fragile et un espace naturel à préserver.
Built in the 19th century by romantic builder Maximilien Siffait and his son Oswald, a botanist, the Folies Siffait overhang the Loire river and the railway line at the town of Le Cellier.
The site was abandoned at the end of the 19th century then regained by a spontaneous vegetation which damaged the garden and terraces.
The town of Le Cellier bought it back in 1985 and started a restoration project which was carried on from 2007 by the department.
